Star Wars: Shattered Worlds
During the Clone Wars, a great number of resources were expended across the Galaxy to fuel the war machine of the Galactic Republic. This great resource expenditure continued long into the era of the first Galactic Empire and the Galactic Civil War era. With the persistence of the remnant forces of the Empire, the New Republic and its Resistance forces were never fully capable of restoring the Galaxy to a time of peace under which resources could be replenished. In the wake of the toll these costly wars was taking on virtually every star system throughout the Galaxy, there arose several corrupt trade organizations who began to ally themselves with crime lords such as members of the Hutt Cartel.
The leaders of these trade organizations, along with highly powerful and corrupt managers of major Galactic corporations, and the various crime lords which they served, solidified their union under the umbrella of the Drakos Corporation. Through its subsidiaries, affiliates, and the trade bureaucrats who bent the laws to further its banner, this front for the corrupt syndicate of crime and Black market trade became the backbone of the Galaxy’s sustenance. Among the largest companies overseeing manufacture of weapons, supply of military provisions, contracting of large scale engineering projects, acquisition of fuels, transportation of goods, and even production of agriculture were soon strongarmed into the holdings of Drakos and thereby the secret control of the Trade Syndicate.
Currently, the CEO of the Drakos Corporation sits among the inner circle of the Emperor, solidifiying the continued role of the Syndicate over Galactic affairs. This unspoken alliance between the Empire and Syndicate crime lords was solidified with the recent Imperial “liberation” of Drakos facilities under Resistance occupation on Ord Mantell.
